Return to Wall Hanging Gallery | Return to Print Gallery Air Spirit The Element Series was created from visions experienced during a shamanic journey. The images depicted in the artwork reveal a special message about the need to honor the gifts of the elements. The Buffalo is large and powerful. It represents the all-encompassing gift that Air gives to all living things. Snakes take shape from the breath of the Buffalo. They spiral into a caduceus to show us the healing essence of Air. This spiral reminds us of the interconnectedness of all life forms. Clouds reveal the forms of two figures in an early evening sky. The Moon illuminates them as they reach towards each other, the way all living things naturally yearn to connect to one another. The Sandstone is sculpted by the powerful currents of Air that move through mountainous areas. This same mighty power can unleash tornados, hurricanes and dust storms. Fish rises to the surface for air, symbolizing the need to be conscientious in protecting the quality of the Air, so that the future generations of all species will flourish. By bringing our awareness to the basic elements, for even a few moments, we can put intentions in motion that positively affect our choices throughout the day. Water has both the capacity to nurture all life and the force to destroy through floods, hurricanes and tidal waves. The Orca is also known as the killer whale. As one of the largest and fastest sea mammals in the ocean, the orca represents power through its agility and speed as it leaps out of the spiraling waters towards the sky. A white bird carries a fish in its beak to remind us that by caring for the water we help sustain all life forms. Each one of our actions ripples across the pond of life. Footprints on the sand show how we literally leave our mark on the Earth. By caring for the Water. we have the opportunity to leave a life-giving legacy. Fire Spirit The Element Series was created from visions experienced during a shamanic journey. The images depicted in the artwork reveal a special message about the need to honor the gifts of the elements. The Wolf is loved by some and feared by others. This is also how most of us understand Fire spirit as well. The Wolf bring us a simple message: Fire is sacred. Hands gently cradle a nest containing a plume of smoke that spirals upward. Through this image, we are asked to honor the precious fire inside each of us. The spiral reminds us of the interconnectedness of all life forms. The Pterodactyl soars through the sky as testament to the fact that this planet was born out of Fire. Volcanic hot springs beneath the ocean's floor erupt, spilling the minerals that nourish life. The liquid Fire of lava too has the ability to destroy anything in its' path, and foster new growth. The Fire inside of us has this same ability. By bringing our awareness to the basic elements, for even a few moments, we can put intentions in motion that positively affect our choices throughout the day. |
